Day 1
You will drive to Terelj National Park, which is located some 70 kms north-east of Ulaanbaatar. Underway, the bus will make a few stops to enable you to shoot some pictures of the gigantic and rough mountainous landscapes, where some rare flowers can be admired. Our destination will be a ger camp in the middle of overwhelming nature. The typical rock formations make up the scenery here. Naturally, you will spend the night in a traditional ger. You can easily explore Terelj (altitude 1600m) on foot, but you can also rent a horse for 4$ per hour. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are included.

Terelj Tour-2

Region: Central Mongolia
Interesting sites: Terelj National Park
Available: June 01 - September 30
Length of tour: 8 days

Day 1
Arrive in Ulaanbaatar, and transfer to hotel and have lunch. City sightseeing tour including a visit to Gandan Monastery, with its huge gold-plated Buddha, a symbol of Mongolian national pride and cultural revival. See the monks chanting, spin some prayer wheels and view the intricately embroidered thankas. In the afternoon see the dinosaur skeletons and the renowned Camel Room at the National History Museum. Dinner in one of the finest restaurants in UB. Overnight stay at the hotel.
Day 2
Drive to Terelj-Gorkhi National Park, a fascinating area about 80km to the east of Ulaanbaatar. High Mesozoic granite cliffs, sculpted into unique formations by wind, frost and rain erosion, loom over fertile valleys. Saddle up the horses, ride around 10km and set up camp for the night.
Day 3
Arrive in the area of Tsagaan Suuliin Garam pass after an 18km ride. Be inspired by the surrounding wildflower meadows and the soaring mountains above. Camp overnight.
Day 4
Ride on to the Gyalalzakh area, 17 km away, through the fertile valleys and mountains of the Hentii mountain range. Pick a scenic spot and pitch your tents.
Day 5
Arrive at the Gunjiin Sum Buddhist temple. Here lies the grave of Queen of the Mongolian ‘Ephu’ king Dondovdorj, who was married to the sixth daughter of a Manchu king. Dondovdorj built the temple in 1740 after the death of his queen. It is his monument to the woman who had once been awarded the title of “Diligent and Kind”, and who was poisoned by the Manchus after she displeased them with her support of the Mongolian people.
Day 6
On the way back to the Terelj ger camp, camp overnight on the picturesque banks of the Shivertiin Gol River.
Day 7
Complete the ride back to the camp at Terelj. The night ends with a farewell party, with delicious traditional Mongolian cuisine khorkhog.
Day 8
Drive from the tourist camp back to Ulaanbaatar. In the afternoon, visit the Bogd Khaan Winter Palace Museum and Natural History Museum. The Winter Palace was the home of the eight Bogd Khaan, and consists of a complex of temples and the Bogd’s European-style home, which is filled with such wonders as a ger covered in snow-leopard furs, gifts to the Bogd Khaan from world leaders, and stuffed seals, penguins and even a giraffe. In the evening, see a performance by a Mongolian folklore group.
