NAADAM
FESTIVAL TOUR
The Naadam festival celebrated
in the MPR annually at midsummer, originated many centuries
ago. The national games with competitions in wrestling, horseracing,
and archery, takes place at the capital’s Central stadium.

Day 1
July 7 Touch down in Ulaanbaatar and
transfer to the hotel. After lunch city sightseeing tour with
a visit to the Suhbaatar Square
and the Natural History Museum.
National folk and dance concert. Dinner and overnight in the
hotel.
Day 2
July 8 Transport to the airport for a flight to the Gobi
Desert. Upon arrival drive to the Hanbogd ger camp to
relax and have lunch. In the afternoon drive to the Eagle
Valley National Park for a hike and an opportunity to photograph
the stunning landscape, the Gobi Glacier and the intriguing
wildlife. Return to tourist camp.
Day 3
July 9 A day trip to Bayan Zag, the Flaming Cliffs (80km),
and explore the “Gobi Dinosaur Cemetery” and the
trail of Roy Chapman Andrews*. Visit camel breeding family.
Overnight in Ger hotel.
Day 4
July 10 After breakfast take a flight to Ulaanbaatar.
Arrive in Ulaanbaatar. Visit to the National
History Museum, home to numerous dinosaur skeletons and displays
on the diversity of Mongolian wildlife. The Museum was founded
in 1924 and includes sections on geography, botany, fauna
and paleontology. The highlight of a visit to the museum is
spectacular huge skeleton of a Tarbosaurus, an Asian cousin
of the Tyrannosaurus Rex, along with other complete skeletons
and nests full of eggs. A new addition to the museum is the
Golden Camel Museum section, which will tell you everything
you ever needed to know about the two-humped Bactrian camels
of Mongolia. Dinner and overnight at the hotel.

5
July 11 Transfer to Ulaanbaatar Central Stadium. Watch the
Naadam Opening Ceremony. After lunch continues see the National
Wrestling and Archery. Dinner at hotel.
Day 6
July 12 Tour to Horse racing. Watch one of 6 different kinds
of racing. City sightseeing tour including a visit to Gandan
Monastery, with its huge gold-plated Buddha, a symbol of Mongolian
national pride and cultural revival. See the monks chanting,
spin some prayer wheels and view the intricately embroidered
thankas. In the afternoon see the dinosaur skeletons and the
renowned Camel Room at the National
History Museum. Dinner in one of the finest restaurants
in UB. Overnight stay at the hotel.
Day 7
July 13 Depart for Kharkhorin.
The city was established in 1220. Kharkhorin was the capital
of Mongolia for 140 years and the capital of the Mongol Empire
for 32 years. Box lunch. Overnight in "Mongon mod"
Ger hotel.
Day 8
July 14 Visit Erdene Zuu
Monastery. Look around this historical place. Erdene
Zuu monastery is the first Buddhist monastery in Mongolia.
It was built at the initiative of the most influential Khalkha
lord Abtai Khan,in 1586 on the spot where Kharkhorin, the
famous capital of the Mongolian Empire of the 13th century.
The territory of the monastery occupies an area of 400 square
meters and is surrounded by a stone wall with 108 stupa's.
Visit a nomadic family. Observe a nomadic way of life and
the technology of making milk products. Drink airag (mare’s
milk). Horse riding. Visit Shankh
Temple which is one of the ancient monasteries of Mongolia,
which used to keep the Chinggis Khaan’s military black
banner. Overnight in Ger hotel.
Day 9
July 15 Drive back to Ulaanbaatar. On
the way you will see the unique natural appearance- Sand dunes
among mountains. Arrive in Ulaanbaatar, accommodation in Chinggis
Khan Hotel. Overnight in Chinggis Khan Hotel.
Day 10
July 16 Departure.
