Kharkhorin Tour

Day
1
Arrival in Ulaanbaatar and check in at
the hotel. After the welcome lunch you will make a city tour
and visit the wonderful, still in use, Gandan
Monastery, the Sukhbaatar Square
and the National History Museum.
In the evening we attend a Mongolian folk dance and music
performance, where we will enjoy very old Mongolian long songs,
performances by contortionists, throat singers, dancing and
more. Overnight at hotel.
Day 2
After an early breakfast leave UB. On the way to the Gobi
visit Baga Gazriin Chuluu Lake and the ruins of Sum Khukh
Burd Temple. Overnight in traditional Mongolian gers at Middle
Gobi camp.
Day 3
Breakfast at the camp. Continue driving towards the South
Gobi. On the way visit Sangiin Dalai Temple in Erdenedalai,
one of the few monasteries and temples to survive the communist
purges in 1930s. Overnight in "Desert Gobi" Camp.
Day 4
Breakfast at the camp. Full day excursion to Yol Valley (Eagle
Valley) National Park for hiking and an opportunity to photograph
the stunning landscape, the Gobi Glacier and the local wildlife.
Picnic lunch in the Yolyn Am National Park. Spend the afternoon
hiking or relaxing. Visit to a nomadic family. Return to the
camp and overnight.
Day 5
Early breakfast at the camp. Start the drive towards Karakorum.
On the way explore the world famous Flaming Cliffs (Bayan
Zag), the Gobi Dinosaurs Cemetary and the trail of paleontologist
Roy Chapman Andrews. Stop for the night in a ger camp near
Ongyn Khiid.
Day 6
After breakfast visit Ongyn Khiid and Khoshuu Khiid. Continue
driving to Karakorum. Overnight in tents.
Day 7
In the afternoon arrive in “Mongon Mod” ger camp.
There is no program for the rest of the day. Overnight in
Ger Camp.
Day 8
Early breakfast at the camp. Visit Erdene
Zuu Monastery, which is the first Buddhist monastery in
Mongolia. It was built at the initiative of the most influential
Khalkha lord Abtai Khan, in 1586 on the spot where was Kharkhorin,
the famous capital of the Mongolian Empire of the 13th century
. Visit Shankh temple
where is kept the Black flag of Chinggis Khan soldiers'. Visit
nomadic family to introduce to their style of life, horse
ride. Overnight in Ger hotel.
Day 9
Drive to Khushuu Tsaidam, which is a Turkic Inscribed Monument
of the Turkic State (6th to 8th Centuries A.D). The inscription
was written by the grandson of Kulitegin and devoted to the
Bilge Khan of Turkish
origin and his old brother Kulitegin in 732. It is noteworthy
that the “Orkhon inscription” has both a historical
and scientific significance. Continue drive to Lake of Ugii
Nuur – beautiful lake with fish and birds. Lunch on
Lake Side – traditional Mongolian dish – meat
processed hermitically cally with hot stones. Drive back to
a camp for overnight. Overnight in Ger hotel.
Day 10
Breakfast at the camp. Drive to Ulaanbaatar
and transfer to the hotel. Dinner and overnight at the hotel.
Day 11
Departure.
