FISHING TOUR-1

Mongolia is unforgettable place for fishing where you should try to take Mongolian Taimen (Hucho Taimen), Greiling (Brachymystax lenok), Pike (Esox lucius) and others kind of fish. The wild life kingdom of Mongolia is really unique, including about 140 species of mammals, 380 species of fish.

Day 1
Arrive in Ulaanbaatar and transfer to a three or four star hotel. Check in. City tour of Ulaanbaatar if time permits. National folk and dance concert. Overnight at the hotel
Day 2
Drive by bus/minivan/jeep to Kharkhorin. The city was established in 1220. Kharkhorin was the capital of Mongolia for 140 years and the capital of the Mongol Empire for 32 years. Box lunch. Overnight in "Mongon Mod" Ger hotel.
Day 3
Drive to Erdene Zuu monastery. Look around this historical place. Erdene Zuu monastery is the first Buddhist monastery in Mongolia. It was built at the initiative of the most influential Khalkha lord Abtai Khan, in 1586 on the spot where Kharkhorin, the famous capital of the Mongolian Empire of the 13th century. The territory of the monastery occupies an area of 400 square meters and is surrounded by a stone wall with 108 stupas. The stone columns, blocks and sculptures excavated from the ruins of the city show that various building materials were used in the construction of this monastery, which began in the 16th century and continued until the 19th century. Visit Shankh temple. Shankh temple is one of the ancient monasteries of Mongolia, which used to keep the Chinggis Khan’s military black banner. Visit a nomadic family. Observe a nomadic way of life and the technology of making milk products. Taste airag (mare's milk). Horse riding. Overnight in Ger hotel.
Day 4
Walk upward the Orkhon river and fish. The Orkhon river has its source in the Khangai Mountain Range and flows 1.124 kilometers, joining the Selenge river in northern Mongolia and so to Lake Baikal in Siberia. The main tributaries of the Orkhon river are the Tamir and Yeroo rivers, which have the ir source in the Khentii and Khangai mountain ranges. The Orkhon river has numerous species of fish such as Pike, Mirror Carp, Baikal Sturgeon, Taimen, Sig, River Perch, Siberian Umber, Roach, Ide, Bull Ide, Golden Carp, Amur Catfish and Burbot. Picnic. Overnight in tents.
Day 5
Fish downward the Orkhon river. Arrive in Kharkhorin Ger hotel.
Day 6
Drive to Ogii Lake. Ogii Nuur is a lake, 1.337 meters above sea level in Ogii Nuur soumin Arkhangai aimag. It covers 25 square kilometers, and is rich in Perch and pike. The catch possible from the lake of Ogii Nuur is 50 tons a year. Swan Goose, White Spoonbill and Dalmatian Pelican have been recorded. Fishing at the lake. On the way will see Turkic inscribed monument. Arrive in “Ugii nuur” Ger Camp.
Day 7
Return to Ulaanbaatar. Box lunch. Accomodation in hotel in Ulaanbaatar. Leisure time, shopping, relaxing. Overnight at hotel.
Day 8
After breakfast transfer to the airport.

Day 1

Day 2

Day 3-5
Drive to the Orkhon river. Full day of fishing. The Orkhon river has its source in the Khangai Mountain Range and flows 1.124 km, joining the Selenge river in northern Mongolia and so to Lake Baikal in Siberia. Day 6
Travel upward the river Orkhon. Fish at the UurtiinTokhoi waterfall. The Uurtiin Tokhoi is a cold spring with carbonic gas, which lies at the sheer sided canyon of the Orkhon river. A small cliff and waterfall are at the mouth of the Khurgan Khurem. The nearby place Temeen Chuluu has interesting sights such as the rectangular tombs of the Bronze Age. The historical place of Uuld Ulan Had, which was visited by Galdanboshigt, on his way to conquer the Khalkha, can be seen from the northern part of the Orkhon river. Overnight in tents.
Day 7
Visit the Monastery of Tuvkhun on the peak of Tuvkhun Mountain. Undur Gegeen Zanabazar erected it. Mongolians erected about 10 stone monasteries in the 17th century. Overnight in tents in the forest.
Day 8
Leave for Arkhangai aimag. Visit the Zaya Gegeen temple – a large old Buddhist Monastery, remarkably intact, preserved as a museum – but with an active community of monks. The first temple was opened in 1586, expanded to 5 temples in 1679. The contents are magnificent, housing many treasures, clothes, seals, games, weapons, ceremonial masks and fine collection of Mongolian musical instruments. Overnight in tents.
Day 9
Arrive in Chuluut river. This river flows through basalt canyon which extends 100 km from the mouth of the Teel river to the Atsat. The basalt is formed of lava of nearby extinct volcanoes such as Khorgo Volcano and others. The Chuluut river is rich in fish. Overnight in tents.
Day 10-11
Full day of fishing at the Choidog Borgio. Waterfall at confluence of rivers – Choidog Borgio. This waterfall cascading from the Chuluut and Suman rivers’ confluence, over a sheer cliff with a height of 2 meters. It is interesting to watch the fishes jumping in the waterfall. Overnight in tents.
Day 12
Transfer to lake Terkhiin Tsagaan Nuur. Great Cormorant is common in summer flying around and nesting on the hill at the lake of Terkhiin Tsagaan Nuur. This lake is an astonishingly beautiful lake with crystal clear fresh water. The lake supports Pike and other fish. Full day of fishing. Near the lake is Khorgo mountain, which enjoys State protection as a National Park. The volcanic crater of the Togoo Uul is 200 meters wide and 100 m deep. Red deer, Siberian Deer, Wild Boar, Ruddy Shelduck and duck are found here. Overnight in "Horgo" Ger Camp.
Day 13
Drive to Kharkhorin. Overnight in Ger camp.
Day 14
Arrive in Ulaanbaatar. Free time, shopping, relaxing. Dinner in a restaurant. Overnight at hotel.
Day 15
Departure.
