Day 1
Arrive in Ulaanbaatar and transfer to
a three or four star hotel. The rooms are facilitated with
shower/toilet and telephone. After check-in, you will have
the morning for yourself. After the welcome lunch you will
make a city tour and visit the wonderful, still in use, Ganden
Monastery, the Sukhbaatar Square
and the Winter Palace of the last King
of Mongolia; Bogdo Khaan. In the people's Historical Museum,
you will get a nice impression of the nomad life of the Mongolian
people. In the evening we attend a Mongolian folk dance and
music performance, where we will enjoy very old Mongolian
long songs, performances by contortionists, throat singers,
dancing and more. Overnight at hotel. Afterwards dinner at
the hotel.
Day 2
Transport to Kharkhorin (360km).
Lunch on the way. Arrive at the camp in the late afternoon.
In the evening stop by a local horse breeder’s family.
Overnight in traditional dwelling ger at the tourist camp.
Day 3
Drive to Erdene Zuu monastery.
Look around this historical place. Erdene
Zuu monastery is the first Buddhist monastery in Mongolia.
It was built at the initiative of the most influential Khalkha
lord Abtai Khan, in 1586 on the spot where Kharkhorin,
the famous capital of the Mongolian Empire of the 13th century.
The territory of the monastery occupies an area of 400 square
meters and is surrounded by a stone wall with 108 stupas.
The stone columns, blocks and sculptures excavated from the
ruins of the city show that various building materials were
used in the construction of this monastery, which began in
the 16th century and continued until the 19th century. Visit
Shankh temple. Shankh
temple is one of the ancient monasteries of Mongolia, which
used to keep the Chinggis Khan’s military black banner.
Visit a nomadic family. Observe a nomadic way of life and
the technology of making milk products. Taste airag (mare's
milk). Horse riding. Overnight in "Mongon Mod"Ger
hotel.
Day 4
Visit Orkhon Khar Balgas. Orkhon Khar Balgas was
the capital of the Uigur State (9th century) and stands on
the east bank of the Orkhon river. Following collapse of the
Turkic State arose the Uigur State. Orkhon Khar Balgas was
founded as the capital city in 751 AD by Bayanchur Kagan and
covered 25 square kilometers, surrounded by a wall of umber
brick and with a water canal around the perimeter. The city
buildings covered 5 hectares. Archeological studies demonstrate
areas of the city were allotted for trade and handicrafts,
in the center of the city were palaces, monastery and temples.
The palace had castle walls around it and two main gates in
the north and south plus watch towers. There are also archeological
finds of quarters used by translators of books. Overnight
in Ger hotel.
Day 5
Drive to Khushuu Tsaidam, which is a Turkic Inscribed Monument
of the Turkic State (6th to 8th Centuries A.D). The inscription
was written by the grandson of Kulitegin and devoted to the
Bilge Khan of Turkish origin and his old brother Kulitegin
in 732. It is noteworthy that the “Orkhon inscription”
has both a historical and scientific significance. Continue
drive to Lake of Ugii Nuur
– beautiful lake with fish and birds. Lunch on Lake
Side – traditional Mongolian dish – meat processed
hermitically cally with hot stones. Drive back to a camp for
overnight. Overnight in Ger hotel.
Day 6
Drive to Ulaanbaatar. On the way visit
Hustain Nuruu National Reserve
to view the Przewalsky wild horses, recently re-introduced
back into Mongolia (165km). Arrive in Ulaanbaatar
in the late afternoon. Check in to your hotel.
Day 7
Tour to Fine Arts Museum. Lunch at the hotel. In the afternoon
visit Natural History Museum. Overnight in hotel.
Day 8
Transport to the airport for a flight to the Gobi
Desert. Upon arrival drive to the “Juulchin Gobi-1”
Tourist Camp to relax and have lunch. In the afternoon drive
to the Eagle Valley National Park for a hike and an opportunity
to photograph the stunning landscape, the Gobi Glacier and
the intriguing wildlife. En route back to the base camp, visit
a family of camel breeders for photo opportunities, a camel-riding
session and to experience the nomadic lifestyle. Back at our
camp, enjoy a peaceful evening in the beautiful surrounds
of the Gobi Desert. Overnight at
the camp in Mongolian gers, large and comfortable traditional
felt tents.
Day
9
After breakfast drive to the Hongoryn Els sand dunes (190km).
Packed lunch on the way. Excursion to Seruun Bulag spring
and sand dunes. The sand dunes cover 925 square kilometers
and are situated at an altitude of 1040-1840m above sea level.
The dunes are 180km long and between 0.8 and 27km wide. After
the excursion return to the “Juulchin Gobi-2”
Tourist Camp. Dinner and overnight in the ger camp.
Day 10
After breakfast drive to Tugrugiin Shiree and Bayanzag. On
arrival in Tugruggin Shiree have a picnic lunch, after which
we drive to Bayanzag. Dinner and overnight in "Guulchin
Gobi-1" Tourist Camp.
Day 11
Late morning flight to Ulaanbaatar. Lunch
in the hotel. Afternoon tour of the National
History Museum. Overnight in hotel.
Day 12
Breakfast, transfer to the airport to depart to Hatgal by
plane. Drive to “Huvsgul-Hangard” Tourist Ger
Camp. There is no program for the rest of the day. Overnight
in Ger Camp.
Day 13
Full day to explore the breathtaking alpine scenery of this
beautiful lake. There will be an ample opportunity to experience
local nomadic lifestyles. Free hiking and photo session along
the shores of the lake, home to diverse wildlife and countless
birds.
Day 14
Breakfast, visit to a nomadic family. If you want you may
riding horse or yak. Drive back to Hatgal village to catch
a morning flight to Ulaanbaatar. Gala
Dinner. Overnight at the hotel.
Day 15
Transfer to airport for return flight.
